Chemical Cleaning Procedure

Cleaning Procedure for Road Tanker

➢ Review of the last cargo document or MSDS by the client/local agents.
➢ Ventilate the tank for 1-2 hours. However, the blower may need to be
used for accelerating the ventilation as required.
➢ High pressure hot water washing at 90-95°C or Steaming using pressure
gun from top, in each compartment for 15-20 minutes.
➢ Check oxygen and gas content in the tank by gas detector.
➢ Issue man entry permits subject to oxygen content if being within
permissible limit and if the tank is gas free.
➢ Rinsing of tank with Caustic/detergent in each compartment.
➢ Remove all external fittings of the tank & clean it separately and refit the
same.
➢ Steaming, draining and drying using vacuum cleaner.
➢ Exterior cleaning of tank to remove any cargo residue.

Chemical Cleaning Procedure

1. Review of the last cargo document or MSDS by the client/transporter.
2. Ventilate the tanker for a few hours; however, the blower may be used for
accelerating the ventilation if required.
3. Discharge previous remaining cargo through bottom valve.
4. From top flushing with GIDC raw water at Normal pressure for 2-3 minutes to
remove previous settle cargo.
5. Check Oxygen and gas content inside the tanker by a Gas detector.
6. Manual entry inside the tanker for cleaning with pressure Gun (150 BAR) at all sides
for 5 minutes in each compartment.
7. Solution (Detergent mix with water and alkaline safety liquid/Suitable chemical
considering last nature) spray inside each compartment to remove last cargo smell and
neutral the ph.
8. Manually wipe all sides of the compartment with cotton cloth/ Scotch to remove the
stickiness of previous cargo contamination.
9. Again, follow step6 cleaning with a pressure Gun (150 BAR) for 10 minutes.
10. From top, flush all sides in each compartment with water at Normal pressure for 2
minutes to remove minor particles and give water samples from bottom outlet to
confirm for no foreign particle and cargo residue.
11. Clean Bottom valve outlet with pressure gun to remove dust and previous cargo
contamination.
12. External cleaning of the tanker.

Steam Cleaning Procedure

1.Review of the last cargo document or MSDS by the client/transporter.
2. Ventilate the tanker for a few hours; however, the blower may be used for
accelerating the ventilation if required.
3. Connect with a steam line from top and steaming up to 15 min to raise the
temperature up to 85 degrees.
4. Discharge previous remaining melt cargo mix with steam condensate through bottom
valve
5. From top flushing with GIDC raw water at Normal pressure for 10-15 minutes to
remove previous melt cargo and to reduce high temperature inside the tanker up to
normal
6. Check Oxygen and gas content inside the tanker by a Gas detector.
7. Manual entry inside the tanker for cleaning with pressure Gun (150 BAR) at all sides
for 5 minutes in each compartment.
8. Solution (Detergent mix with water and alkaline safety liquid/suitable chemical
considering last cargo nature) spray inside each compartment to remove last cargo
residue, smell and neutral the pH.
9. Manually wipe all sides of the compartment with cotton cloth/ Scotch to remove the
stickiness of previous cargo contamination.
10. Again, follow step6 cleaning with a pressure Gun (150 BAR) for 10 minutes.
